Questions about parts
What happens after I send a part?
An engineer reviews it. You receive a quote and a free technical assessment the same day. Want to discuss first? Book a call.
Is the technical assessment a guarantee?
No. It is a free, engineer-reviewed screening that comes with the quote. It is not a guarantee that a part can be printed.
Can you guarantee my part will print?
No one can honestly do that before the part has been built. What we can do is predict the main risks before the build, correct the process where the physics allows it, and tell you what remains uncertain. That is what the technical assessment and quote set out.
Which file formats can I send?
STEP is preferred. STL, 3MF and Parasolid also work. For optimization, include the build file or job export from your machine if you have one. Drawings with tolerances (PDF) help us a great deal.
Do you do prototypes, small series or both?
Both. CITEC3D focuses on prototypes, small series and special series where precision and process control matter more than volume.
Can you machine and inspect parts printed elsewhere?
Yes. 5-axis CNC machining and coordinate measurement are available as stand-alone services.
Are you certified?
We do not claim a certification on this site. Quality documentation — inspection reports, material certificates, measurement protocols — is agreed per order and stated in the quote.
Can I send export-controlled or classified data?
Not through the upload form. Contact us first and we will agree a secure transfer route and the required paperwork before any file is exchanged.
Will you sign an NDA before I share files?
Yes. Ask for our mutual NDA in the form or by email, and we will send it before you upload.
Do you need to change my design to fix distortion or overheating?
Often not. We start from your existing geometry and build file and correct the process: exposure strategy, local laser power, timing, orientation and supports. Where a design change would help more, we say so and explain why.
Do corrections make the build slower?
Sometimes. Every correction is chosen to balance part quality against build time, and we report the time impact before you approve anything.
Can the optimized process run on my own machines?
Yes, if we agree that at the start. A process window belongs to the alloy, not the machine. We translate it to each machine through the thermal process and the machine interface. Never a file copy. We adapt and validate the process for each target machine and deliver it under a licence or transfer package.
How long does pre-industrialization take?
It depends on the part, the material and the qualification your industry requires. The proposal sets out milestones and dates. In one programme, a mobility part reached series readiness in about eight weeks; that is an example, not a standard.
Does your part fit?
The free technical assessment confirms fit and material.
